AmeriHealth NJ Gives Consumers a Heads Up on Concussions

Cranbury, NJ - July 10, 2012 - AmeriHealth NJ today announced the release of its Concussion Infographic, the latest in a series of visual infographics the company has created in an effort to provide consumers with important information in an easy-to-understand way.

AmeriHealth NJ’s Concussion Infographic addresses a variety of topics related to concussions including:

  • Treatment and prevention
  • What to do if you have a concussion
  • Levels of severity
  • Stats on high school injuries
  • Other safety measures

“When creating the concussion infographic we especially had teens and adolescents in mind,” said Mike Munoz, vice president of sales and marketing for AmeriHealth NJ. “Concussions are a hot topic in sports today, and not just among the pros. We partner with a lot of organizations that work with kids who are active in sports and see this as a unique way to address an important issue.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1.7 million people suffer a traumatic brain injury each year.

“Many people might be surprised to learn that most concussions occur without loss of consciousness,”¹ said Dr. Lisa Blondin, senior medical director for AmeriHealth NJ. “It’s not only important to know the signs of a concussion, but also how to treat one.”
