AMERIHEALTH NJ EXPANDS SUITE OF INTERACTIVE, HEALTH INFOGRAPHICS

Cranbury, NJ, May 14, 2013 – AmeriHealth NJ today released three new interactive, health infographics that focus on diabetes, cholesterol and HIV/AIDS.

The company’s series of infographics, which now includes a total of eight, were created in an effort to provide consumers with important information in an easy-to-understand way.

Silent threat: Cholesterol

"Having important, useful health information at your fingertips is invaluable," says Dr. Lisa Herbert, medical director for AmeriHealth NJ. "For example, we hear so much about the importance of having healthy cholesterol levels, but it may not be common knowledge what that really means or how you can achieve those healthy levels."

According to the CDC, nearly two out of three adults with high cholesterol don't have their condition under control. AmeriHealth NJ’s Cholesterol Infographic provides an overview of what cholesterol is – the good and the bad – and offers some tips on how to lower levels of bad cholesterol.

Dealing with diabetes

"We know that some health conditions can lead to others,” said Dr. Herbert. “For instance, high cholesterol has also been linked to diabetes1, which affects more than eight percent of the population in the United States2.""

AmeriHealth NJ’s Diabetes Infographic provides tips on how to manage the chronic condition, gives an overview of the two types of diabetes as well as who is affected.

Understanding HIV/AIDS

There are more than one million people in the United States living with HIV/AIDS3. AmeriHealth NJ’s HIV/AIDS Infographic explains the epidemic and its impact across the world. It also addresses prevention, detection, and treatment for the disease.

Saturday, May 18 is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, which recognizes the thousands of volunteers, community members, health professionals, and scientists who are working together to find a safe and effective HIV vaccine.
