AmeriHealth NJ Extends NJ Protect Program for Current Members Through End of Year
Cranbury, NJ - June 12, 2013 - AmeriHealth New Jersey today announced that it has extended NJ Protect for members currently enrolled in the program. NJ Protect was introduced in 2011 as a new health insurance option for uninsured New Jersey residents with pre-existing medical conditions.
Working together with the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, AmeriHealth New Jersey was able to reach an agreement with the federal government that allows for an extension of NJ Protect through December 31, 2013.
“NJ Protect is aligned with our mission to enable the people of NJ to improve their health and well-being while helping them gain access to affordable, quality care,” said Mike Munoz, senior vice president of sales and marketing for AmeriHealth New Jersey. “The program has been a viable option for higher risk individuals in the state of New Jersey and we are pleased to be able to extend NJ Protect to our members through the end of the year.”
NJ Protect will officially close on December 31, 2013. At that time, individuals currently enrolled in the program will be eligible to get their health insurance through the NJ Exchange, which AmeriHealth New Jersey will be participating in come 2014.
