March of Dimes National Ambassador Family Kicks Off Week-Long NJ Tour with Visit to AmeriHealth NJ
Sayreville, NJ - February 24, 2014 - AmeriHealth New Jersey, a health insurance company focused exclusively on the state of New Jersey, welcomed the March of Dimes National Ambassador Aidan Lamothe to the company’s Cranbury, NJ headquarters on February 24, 2014. Aidan was joined by his parents Jill Teeters and David Lamothe. The ambassador family is sharing their personal story in an effort to encourage people to participate in the March of Dimes’ largest fundraiser, March for Babies. The family is making appearances at New Jersey March for Babies company sponsors throughout the week. AmeriHealth New Jersey was their first stop.
AmeriHealth New Jersey has been a supporter of the March of Dimes for the past eight years. In addition to sponsoring several events over the years, the company’s leaders have played an active role in several capacities. Judith L. Roman, president & CEO of AmeriHealth New Jersey, previously chaired the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year awards and was honored at the 2013 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Gourmet Gala. Mike Munoz, senior vice president of sales and marketing, sits on the South Jersey March of Dimes Board of Directors.
“AmeriHealth New Jersey is proud to support the March of Dimes’ effort to raise awareness for the March for Babies event,” said Roman. “We commend Aidan and his family for their dedication to the cause, and for sharing their inspiring story.”
Born 12 weeks early, Aidan weighed just 3 lbs. and spent 7 weeks in a newborn intensive care unit (NICU). Even as a very young child, he understood how serious it is to be born prematurely and decided he wanted to volunteer to tell his story to help other kids. He and his family visit the NICU every year on his birthday, to honor the doctors and nurses who saved his life. Aidan, and so many other premature babies, wouldn’t have survived without specialized treatment in the NICU, developed in part by research funded by the March of Dimes. Today, Aidan is an adventurous 6-year-old who loves playing baseball, playing the piano, and doing gymnastics. He’s proud to serve as the 2014 National Ambassador and will travel the country with his parents to help raise funds and awareness of premature birth.
“Aidan would not be where he is today without the knowledge, equipment and treatments available as a result of research supported by the March of Dimes March for Babies,” said David Lamothe, Aidan's father. “Volunteering for the March of Dimes has allowed us to give back on behalf of Aidan healthy start and has opened our eyes to the breadth of health issues facing parents and their newborn children.”
