Drug formularies

Your plan uses a drug list called a “formulary” to help determine your copayment for each prescription. The drugs on your formulary were selected to give you the highest level of coverage under your prescription drug benefit.

Members who have prescription drug coverage through AmeriHealth New Jersey are covered under one of several formulary-based prescription drug benefit programs.  These programs are designed to provide physicians with a range of prescribing options while maintaining cost-effectiveness for AmeriHealth New Jersey members.

Use the following links for more information about the various AmeriHealth New Jersey prescription drug benefit programs.  Please refer to your plan material to confirm your drug plan.

Value formulary

The Value formulary includes generic drugs and a defined list of brand-name drugs that have been chosen for formulary coverage based on their reported medical effectiveness, positive results, and value.  In addition, the formulary is reviewed periodically to add new drugs and to remove brand-name drugs when a generic equivalent becomes available. Drugs not found on the formulary are covered when a medical necessity request is approved (medical necessity request instructions).
